Jimi Hendrix: Techniques
Jimi's techniques were trend setting. He was the first guitar player to do many things. He was the first guitarist to "Fuzz" his tone. That's when he would distort his amps so much that it sounded like he was playing "Fuzz." Also, Jimi was the first to use a Wah-Wah pedal and purposely feedback his amps- something that many other guitarists would start to do afterwards. Finally, Jimi was the first player to use a vibrato (tremolo) bar for more than a slight vibrato effect. He would beat on that whammy bar until it broke (literally because Floyd Rose systems didn't make an appearance until the early 1980s.) That technique alone was pretty much a signature thing in the 1980s and one of his long lasting accomplishments.
