Jimmy Page: Techniques
From a musical standpoint, Jimmy Page was a very sloppy player. However, that didn't matter. He made it cool. He was one of the first guitarists to use hammer ons and pull offs in his playing. This was when you played notes with out plucking them and it made them sound faster. This technique took off from that and was used widely in the 1980s and still is used widely today. Another technique that he had was the use of a violin bow in his solos, as pictured at right. This gave the guitar a really cool droning, eastern sound. To this day, Page is the only person to have ever done that in his playing.
